Overview of the year 2015

We would like to thank everyone who supported us and helped us to realize our ideas. In February 2015 we launched the project „Second Generation Vojta Therapy – creating an opportunity for children at risk“. So far, after the intensit work for 10 months, we can demonstrate the following: 

January 2015

  • preparations for the launching of the project
  • interviewing for the post of home therapist/physiotherapist
  • selection of children participating in the main (with home therapist) group and control (with parents as therapists) group

February 2015

  • the project was launched on the 5th February 2015, which included the following activites:
  • specialist project team was created and all key project activities were launched
  • the Second Generation Vojta Therapy training of the physiotherapists and home therapists started
  • preparation for the selection procedure for the purchasing of all necessary equipment for the therapy itself and for monitoring the changes of the children´s motor development
  • work on the guidebook for home therapists and parents of the children

This will be provided to physiotherapists, home therapists and parents of children participating in the project.

March 2015

  • further specialized training of physiotherapists and home therapists
  • selection procedur efor the purchase of equipment necessary for the realization of the project
  • pilot study. The aim of the study is to collect, validate, and evaluate data for the project
  • Introductory meeting took place on the 6th March 2015 in Horní Blatná. The project, its aims, and time table were introduced to the parents of the children.
  • Completion of the selection of the children who would participace in the project (main and control groups), and introductory examination

April 2015

  • Introductory examination of the patiens at the biomechanical laboratoř of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of the Charles University under the supervision of Ing. F. Zahálka PhD.
  • From the middle of April the main activity of the project – therapy of the children in the main group – was begun
  • Beginning of regular appointments of the children from the main and the control group with specialist physiotherapist. Testing of the patiens by a clinical psychologist, a speech therapist, and a pediatric neurologist.

May 2015

  • work with children from the main and control group continues
  • the number of children in main group, who recieve home therapy, is increased from 12 to 16
  • Purchase of the equipment necessary for the recording of the children´s motor development is completed
  • Evaluation of the tests administered by the clinical psychologist, the speech therapist, and the pediatric neurologist

June 2015

  • work with children from the main and control group continues
  • A seminar with therapists and parents took place on the 26th June 2015 in the Municipal Library in Karlovy Vary. Officials from the Ministry of Finance also participated in the seminar

July, August 2015

  • During the summer holidays the home therapy continues both in the patietns’ home and in their holiday location on a less regular basis.

September 2015

  • A second examination of the patients takes place at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of the Charles University. Progress in the psycho-motoric development of the children is evident.
  • Because of growing interest in home therapy the number of children in the main group, who recieve home therapy, is increased from 16 to 18 

October 2015

  • Work on the guidebook for home therapists and parents of the children is completed. The guidebook will be provided to physiotherapists, home therapists and parents of children participating in the project.
  • A seminar– further training of the home therapists and physiotherapists – took place in Neveklov. The training was focused on innovative methodology of physiotherapeutic treatment.

November 2015

  • work with children from the main and control group continues
  • The children’s development is regularly monitored and recorded by means of the purchased equipment (instrument for measuing the patiens‘ gait, 3D scanner) in the physiotherapists consulting room
  • The patients continue to be monitored by the clinical psychologist, the speech therapist, and the pediatric neurologist

December 2015

  • work with children from the main and control group continues
